Who publishes this, and why.
Competition and Consumer Checker is published by The Art of Service, an independent publisher of compliance references and checkers. It is written for the product, legal-operations and customer compliance leads at consumer businesses that have to act on the Competition and Consumer Amendment (Unfair Trading Practices) Act 2026 before 1 July 2027.
What we publish
The Art of Service publishes the reference, the free check and the paid kit, and the reading of the Act behind them. Each requirement is our statement of the provision, read from the authorised text and cited so you can check it, not the instrument verbatim.
Who it is for
A consumer business that sells online or in person, displays prices, adds a fee at checkout, or sells a subscription, a free trial or an introductory price. The same record serves a product lead who owns the flow, a legal-operations lead who needs the provision and a compliance lead who needs the evidence.
What it is not
It is not legal advice, not a certification and not an audit. No external legal review was commissioned for this edition; the record is checked against the authorised text and the strict seven-word overlap test, and the source is on every page. It does not decide whether your conduct is manipulative, whether a charge is a payment surcharge or whether your contract is standard form. It gives you the provision, the date, the evidence and the questions to put to your lawyer.
